Description

Benocyclidine maleate is a competitive inhibitor of trypanothione reductase (TryR) (Ki=1 μM) and biologically active against bloodstream T. brucei (EC50=10 μM).

In Vitro

Benocyclidine maleate (BTCP maleate) is found to be a competitive inhibitor of trypanothione reductase (TryR) (Ki=1 μM) and biologically active against bloodstream T. brucei (EC50=10 μM). Trypanothione reductase (TryR) is a potential drug target in trypanosome and leishmania parasites. Benocyclidine is screened against MRC-5 cells in the same 96-well format as for the trypanosome assay giving an EC50 value of 29 μM[1].
