The open field test (OF, Open Field Test) is an experiment used to evaluate the activity level, exploratory behavior and anxiety state of mice or rats. In experiments, animals are placed in an open, usually square area, and their movements and behavior in the new environment are recorded. Typically, an animal's activity in a new environment, exploratory behavior, and anxious response to its surroundings are observed and analyzed. Open field experiments are widely used to study behavioral, neuropharmacological and anxiety symptom models, providing a simple and effective method for drug screening and neurobiological research.
