17β-Hydroxywortmannin (Wortmannin-17β-ol) is an orally active inhibitor for phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase (PI-3-kinase) with an IC50 of 0.5 nM, suppresses the osteoclast resorption with an IC50 of 10 nM[1]. 17β-Hydroxywortmannin exhibits antitumor activity[2].

(In Vivo)

17β-Hydroxywortmannin (0.1 μg/kg，口服 5 周) 具有促进破骨细胞分化的活性，可以预防去卵巢大鼠由于雌激素缺乏引起的骨质流失[1]。
17β-Hydroxywortmannin (2.5 mg/kg/week，静脉注射 2 周) 对 U87MG 胶质瘤具有抗肿瘤活性，在人肿瘤异种移植裸鼠中治疗指数为 26[2]。

Dosage: 0.1 μg/kg/day
Administration: p.o. for 5 weeks
Result: Reduced the bone loss without significant toxicity.
Animal Model: U87MG glioma xenografted nude mice[2]
Dosage: 2.5 mg/kg/week
Administration: i.v. for 2 weeks
Result: Inhibited tumor growth.
