Etonogestrel-d₆  (Synonyms: 3-Oxodesogestrel-d₆; 3-keto-Desogestrel-d₆)

Etonogestrel-d₆ is deuterium labeled Etonogestrel. Etonogestrel (3-Oxodesogestrel), a biologically active metabolite of progestin Desogestrel, binds with high affinity to progesterone receptors and estrogen receptors in the target organs[1]. Etonogestrel induce FKBP51 mRNA and protein expression in cultured human endometrial stromal cells (HESCs)[2].

Stable heavy isotopes of hydrogen, carbon, and other elements have been incorporated into drug molecules, largely as tracers for quantitation during the drug development process. Deuteration has gained attention because of its potential to affect the pharmacokinetic and metabolic profiles of drugs^[1].
