ITGA5, a versatile receptor, interacts with diverse ligands such as fibronectin, fibrinogen, PLA2G2A, fibrillin-1 (FBN1), IL1B, Human metapneumovirus, and soluble CD40LG. Recognizing the R-G-D sequence, ITGA5 mediates cell adhesion through distinct binding sites. Notably, it binds PLA2G2A at a separate site, inducing conformational changes enhancing ligand binding. ITGA5's role in IL1B signaling, microbial infection, and CD40/CD40LG signaling highlights its multifunctionality in cellular processes and signaling pathways.
