The PIM3 protein is a serine/threonine kinase proto-oncogene that is crucial in preventing apoptosis, promoting cell survival, and protein translation in underlying tumorigenesis. It phosphorylates BAD, releases anti-apoptotic Bcl-X(L) and affects cell cycle, protein synthesis and MYC transcriptional activity, showing multifaceted effects on tumorigenesis.
