Involved in G protein-coupled receptor signaling pathway and positive regulation of cytosolic calcium ion concentration. Acts upstream of or within cardiac muscle cell apoptotic process and cellular response to hypoxia. Located in several cellular components, including cell body; photoreceptor inner segment; and photoreceptor outer segment membrane. Part of heterotrimeric G-protein complex. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in acute lymphoblastic leukemia; autosomal dominant non-syndromic intellectual disability 42; and myelodysplastic syndrome.
