Acts upstream of or within several processes, including cell surface receptor signaling pathway; negative regulation of Insulin Receptor signaling pathway; and regulation of peptidyl-tyrosine phosphorylation. Predicted to be located in cytoplasmic ribonucleoprotein granule and nucleoplasm. Predicted to be part of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase complex. Is expressed in several structures, including adipose tissue; gut; hemolymphoid system gland; nervous system; and reproductive system. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in ovarian carcinoma; prostate cancer; and urinary bladder Cancer. Orthologous to human SOCS1 (suppressor of cytokine signaling 1).
