Its activities are influenced by SH2D1A/SAP and SH2D1B/EAT-2. CD84/SLAMF5 plays roles in NK cell cytotoxicity, T-cell proliferation, interferon gamma secretion, platelet stimulation, hematopoietic progenitor cell marking, and germinal center functions. It contributes to B cell tolerance, prevents autoimmunity, regulates mast cell signaling, and enhances macrophage responses. The protein forms homodimers and interacts with various signaling molecules.
