The PI4KB protein is a key enzyme that initiates the production of 1,4,5-trisphosphate inositol (PIP) by phosphorylating phosphatidylinositol (PI). In addition to myo-inositol signaling, it is involved in mitotic Golgi disassembly and Golgi-to-plasma membrane trafficking, which is critical for cell membrane dynamics.
