ERK1 protein is an important serine/threonine kinase in the MAP kinase pathway and cooperates with MAPK1/ERK2 to activate the MAPK/ERK cascade. Stimulated by KIT and KITLG/SCF, this pathway plays a key role in cell growth, adhesion, survival, and differentiation.
