14-3-3 epsilon 是一种衔接蛋白（adapter protein），参与调控大量一般及特异性信号通路，可通过识别磷酸丝氨酸或磷酸苏氨酸基序与众多伙伴结合，结合通常会调节结合伙伴的活性（By similarity）；它能正向调控磷酸化蛋白 HSF1 向细胞质的核输出，通过与 RIGI 相互作用在 TBK1 上游的抗病毒信号通路中发挥正向作用，其作用机制是在病毒感染期间引导 RIGI 从胞质重新分布到线粒体相关膜，从而介导 MAVS 依赖的先天免疫信号；此外，它还通过将 HNRNPC 从细胞核输出到细胞质进行泛素化降解，在增殖抑制和细胞周期停滞中发挥作用。
