Captisol is a chemically modified β-cyclodextrin derivative. Captisol has the primary activity of enhancing the water solubility of poorly soluble drugs. The main regulatory mechanism of captisol is to encapsulate drug molecules through the hydrophobic cavity, and the hydrophilic outer surface improves dispersibility. Captisol can be used to improve the bioavailability and stability of drugs. Captisol can also be used in the development of drug delivery systems, such as the preparation of inclusion complexes or physical mixtures[1].
