Acetic acid-13C (sodium) is 13C-labeled Acetic acid (HY-Y0319). Acetic acid is a short-chain fatty acid (SCFA) whose levels are positively correlated with the levels of intermediate-density lipoprotein (IDL-c). In contrast, propionic acid is negatively correlated with the levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL-P). Acetic acid is a major fermentation metabolite of carbohydrates in most anaerobic bacteria, and it is associated with the stimulation of de novo lipogenesis and cholesterol synthesis in the liver. The ratio of acetic acid to propionic acid serves as a novel biomarker of the host lipid profile state[1][2].
