Balapiravir hydrochloride  (Synonyms: Ro 4588161 hydrochloride; R1626 hydrochloride)

Balapiravir hydrochloride (Ro 4588161 hydrochloride; R1626 hydrochloride) is an orally active proagent of a nucleoside analogue inhibitor of the RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp) of HCV (R1479; 4'-Azidocytidine). Balapiravir hydrochloride has anti-HCV activity^[1][2][3]. Balapiravir (hydrochloride) is a click chemistry reagent, it contains an Azide group and can undergo copper-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition reaction (CuAAc) with molecules containing Alkyne groups. Strain-promoted alkyne-azide cycloaddition (SPAAC) can also occur with molecules containing DBCO or BCN groups.

After oral dosing of the CD-1 mice with 28.1 mg/kg of balapiravir (Ro 4588161 hydrochloride; R1626 hydrochloride), R1479 reaches a C_max and a minimum concentration in plasma (C_min) of 24.38 μM and 6.34 μM, respectively, at 2 h and 24 h postdosing^[3].
