Longistyline A  (Synonyms: Longistylin A)

Longistyline A (Longistylin A) is a natural stilbene, it can be isolated from leaves of Cajanus cajan. Longistyline A shows antimicrobial activity against MRSA with an MIC value of 1.56 μg/mL. Longistyline A shows neuroprotective effects, it can be used for the research of infection and nerve diseases^[1][2].

IC50: 8.61 μg/mL (murine RAW264.7 cells)^[2]

Longistyline A (4-16 μM/L; 48 h) reduces the corticosterone-induced neurotoxicity in PC12 cells^[1].
Longistyline A can function as a membrane-targeting antibacterial agent by disturbing bacterial membrane potential and increasing the permeation^[2].
Longistyline A (0-100 μg/mL) shows significant antimicrobial activity against tested Gram-positive bacteria, such as B.cereus CMCC63302 with MIC values of 25 μg/mL, S.aureus CMCC26003 with MIC values of 1.56 μg/mL, and both two strains of MRSA (JCSC4744 and JCSC4469) with MIC values of 1.56 μg/mL^[2].
Longistyline A (24 h) shows cytotoxicity towards murine RAW264.7 cells with an IC₅₀ value of 8.61 μg/mL^[2].

Longistyline A (10 µg dissolved in 50 µL PBS buffer; apply to the wound; for 30 min) improves wound healing, decreases MRSA bacterial survivals in the lesions and reduces inflammatory reaction in MRSA infected mice^[2].
