Endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS) is defined as a chronic perturbation impacting the homeostasis of ER. ERS is primarily characterized by the accumulation of aberrant proteins, which disturbs the balance of the protein folding capacity of the ER. ERS is usually induced during solid tumor development and stage progression.
