The Toll/interleukin-1 (IL-1) receptor (TIR) family comprises two groups of transmembrane proteins: the IL-1 receptor (IL-1R) subfamily and the Toll-like receptor (TLR) subfamily. The Toll/IL-1 receptor (TIR) domain is required for initiating intracellular signaling.
