Levetiracetam-d₃  (Synonyms: UCB L059-d₃)

Levetiracetam-d₃ is the deuterium labeled Levetiracetam. Levetiracetam, an antiepileptic agent, binds the synaptic vesicle protein SV2A. Levetiracetam enhances Temozolomide effect on glioblastoma stem cell proliferation and apoptosis. Levetiracetam modulates HDAC levels ultimately silencing MGMT, thus increasing Temozolomide effectiveness. A chemosensitizer agent[1][2].

Stable heavy isotopes of hydrogen, carbon, and other elements have been incorporated into drug molecules, largely as tracers for quantitation during the drug development process. Deuteration has gained attention because of its potential to affect the pharmacokinetic and metabolic profiles of drugs^[1].
