5-Methyltetrahydrofolic acid-¹³C₅  (Synonyms: 5-Methyl THF-¹³C₅)

5-Methyltetrahydrofolic acid-¹³C₅ is the ¹³C-labeled 5-Methyltetrahydrofolic acid. 5-Methyltetrahydrofolic acid (5-Methyl THF) is a biologically active form of folic acid. 5-Methyltetrahydrofolic acid is a methylated derivate of tetrahydrofolate. 5-Methyltetrahydrofolic acid is the predominant natural dietary folate and the principal form of folate in plasma and cerebrospinal fluid[1].

Stable heavy isotopes of hydrogen, carbon, and other elements have been incorporated into drug molecules, largely as tracers for quantitation during the drug development process. Deuteration has gained attention because of its potential to affect the pharmacokinetic and metabolic profiles of drugs^[1].
