Tumour-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) refers lymphocytes within and around cancer cells and have been associated with a survival benefit. TILs have been identified in primary tumour tissue, tumour-bearing lymph nodes and metastases of numerous cancer types[1].A clear and widely accepted definition of tumour-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) has not yet been established and TILs are not systematically used as biomarkers in current oncology practice[2].

In 2024, The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved lifileucel (Amtagvi), the first treatment for cancer that uses immune cells called tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes, or TILs[3].
