Frovatriptan-d₃ hydrochloride  (Synonyms: (R)-Frovatriptan-d₃ hydrochloride; SB 209509-d₃ hydrochloride; VML 251-d₃ hydrochloride)

Frovatriptan-d₃ (hydrochloride) is the deuterium labeled Frovatriptan[1]. Frovatriptan is a potent 5-HT1B//D receptor agonist and has the highest 5-HT1B potency in the triptan class. Frovatriptan is apparently cerebroselective. Frovatriptan is efficacious and even superior in some endpoints also when taken during the headache phase in migraine attacks with aura[2].

Stable heavy isotopes of hydrogen, carbon, and other elements have been incorporated into drug molecules, largely as tracers for quantitation during the drug development process. Deuteration has gained attention because of its potential to affect the pharmacokinetic and metabolic profiles of drugs^[1].
