Buformin-d₉ hydrochloride  (Synonyms: 丁双胍盐酸盐-d₉; 1-Butylbiguanide-d₉ hydrochloride)

Buformin-d₉ (hydrochloride) is the deuterium labeled Buformin. Buformin (1-Butylbiguanide), a potent AMPK activator, acts as an orally active biguanide antidiabetic agent. Buformin decreases hepatic gluconeogenesis and lowers blood glucose production in vivo. Buformin also has anti-cancer activities and is applied in cancer study (such as, cervical cancer and breast cancer, et al)[1].

Stable heavy isotopes of hydrogen, carbon, and other elements have been incorporated into drug molecules, largely as tracers for quantitation during the drug development process. Deuteration has gained attention because of its potential to affect the pharmacokinetic and metabolic profiles of drugs^[1].
