ASTL/SAS1B Protein, an oocyte-specific receptor, plays a pivotal role in sperm-egg adhesion, crucial for fertilization. It inhibits polyspermy, preventing multiple sperm from fertilizing one egg. ASTL/SAS1B likely acts as a post-fertilization protease, cleaving ZP2 in the zona pellucida. This cleavage, occurring after fertilization and cortical granule exocytosis, renders the zona pellucida unsupportive of additional sperm binding, regulating fertilization processes. ASTL/SAS1B Protein, Mouse (His) is the recombinant mouse-derived ASTL/SAS1B protein, expressed by E. coli, with N-His labeled tag.
