Mer Protein, a receptor tyrosine kinase, transduces signals by binding to ligands like LGALS3, TUB, TULP1, or GAS6. Crucial in processes such as cell survival, migration, differentiation, and apoptotic cell phagocytosis, Mer undergoes autophosphorylation upon ligand binding. This creates binding sites for downstream molecules, leading to interactions with GRB2 or PLCG2 and subsequent phosphorylation of MAPK1, MAPK2, FAK/PTK2, or RAC1. Mer signaling influences macrophage clearance, platelet aggregation, cytoskeleton reorganization, and engulfment. Notably, in the retinal pigment epithelium, Mer regulates phagocytosis of rod outer segment fragments. Additionally, Mer inhibits the innate immune response triggered by Toll-like receptors (TLRs) by activating STAT1, inducing the production of suppressors of cytokine signaling SOCS1 and SOCS3. MERTK Protein, Mouse (HEK293, His) is the recombinant mouse-derived MERTK protein, expressed by HEK293, with C-10*His labeled tag.
