α-Conotoxin RgIA (α-RgIA) is a specific α9α10 nAChR antagonist. α-Conotoxin RgIA can be isolated from the venom of Conus regius. α-Conotoxin RgIA protects against the development of nerve injury-induced chronic pain. α-Conotoxin RgIA is able to prevent both neuronal and glial derangement. α-Conotoxin RgIA can significantly reduce edema and inflammatory infiltrate and prevent loss of myelin sheath as well as fiber number in vivo. α-Conotoxin RgIA is used in the study of neurological diseases[1][2].

Administration: Intramuscular injection (i.m.)
Result: Relieved the postural imbalance by 62% and 74%.
Inhibited pain behavior induced by chronic constriction injury.
Preserved the nerve morphology.
Showed a higher number of fibers with respect to the vehicle-treated groups.
Significantly reduced the decreases in myelin thickness and axon diameter of the contralateral nerve and of the proximal portion of the ipsilateral nerve.
Significantly decreases the Iba1-positive cell density in the ipsilateral and contralateral horns.
