Proteasome beta 8 (3G3)：蛋白酶体是一种多催化蛋白酶复合物，具有高度有序的环状 20S 核心结构。核心结构由28个不同亚基的4个环组成；2个环由7个α亚基组成，2个环由7个β亚基组成。蛋白酶体以高浓度分布在整个真核细胞中，并在非溶酶体途径中以 ATP/泛素依赖性过程切割肽。修饰的蛋白酶体（免疫蛋白酶体）的基本功能是加工 I 类 MHC 肽。该基因编码蛋白酶体 B 型家族的成员，也称为 T1B 家族，是一个 20S 核心 β 亚基。该基因位于 MHC（主要组织相容性复合体）的 II 类区域。该基因的表达由γ干扰素诱导，该基因产物取代了免疫蛋白酶体中的催化亚基3（蛋白酶体β5亚基）。需要蛋白水解加工来产生成熟的亚基。已经确定了编码两种亚型的两种替代转录本；两种亚型都经过处理以产生相同的成熟亚基。[由 RefSeq 提供，2008 年 7 月]
